Object: A Fine Luba Gameboard
Size: 18" Tall
Age: 19th Century

Provenance: Drs. Jean and Noble Endicott

Notes: Gameboards can be found all throughout Africa;
but Congolese gameboards such as this example are
scarce.  This board has a superb patina exhibiting
generations of use.  The wood is iron hard and what is
truely amazing is the finger indentations inside the boxes;
this speaks to the countless games that were played with
this object.  The head is original and its features are
completely obliterated from excessive handling.
