Object: A Fine Luba Charm
Size: 3.75"
Age: Late 19th/Early 20th Century

Provenance: Lee Bronson Collection, Los Angeles

Published in Cornet's Survey Of African Art " The Bronson
Collection " Full page illustration ( See below )

Notes:  This is a very fine quality Luba miniature.  Most
small Luba charms are crude by comparison.  This example
has a wonderful coiffure and extra special treatment to the
breasts and shoulderblades.  The patina is exceptionally rich
from decades of handling.  There appears to be ritual
scrapings all over the figure's body.  The cavity in the head
still retains some of its magic materials.
